The Cooltech Industries Curtain Fire Damper is a vital safety device designed to stop the spread of fire through HVAC ductwork. The mounting frame is constructed from high quality steel plate with this particular damper featuring interlocking roll-formed blades that automatically close via a fusable linkage when a fire is detected, sealing off air passages and preventing fire spread.
In normal conditions, the damper’s blades stay coiled and out of the airstream however on the event of a fire the blades are released as soon as the internal temperature is high enough to melt the fusable link that holds the blade stack in place. Once the fusable linkage has been activated the blade stack will drop via gravity to seal off the damper and prevent any further fire travel.
This particular damper whilst predominately installed in a wall in a vertical position can also be installed horizontally in duct risers in order to prevent fire travelling between floors. This “Slab Fire Damper” has the additional feature of a spring-loaded blade stack which will force the blade stack closed without relying on gravity in the event that the fusable link has been activated.
Key features include a simple, reliable design with tight manufacturing tolerances for consistent operation. The blade stack can be reset from either side after activation, making maintenance easy. The damper is versatile for both masonry and dry wall applications and can be supplied with a variety of different connection types including Duct/Duct, Grille/Duct& TDF/TDF depending on system requirements.
